The key to youthful, healthy looking skin starts with a good cleanse. Dead skin cells, makeup, dirt, oil, and other irritants accumulate on your skin and clog pores, contributing to common skin problems like acne, dry skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and a dull complexion.
Dermaplaning treatments exfoliate your skin by gently removing the top layer to reveal fresher, cleaner, and healthier looking skin.
Dr. Nasrin Ejtemaee and our team at Ashburn Laser and Skincare offer a range of cosmetic and body contouring treatments at our office in Ashburn, Virginia.
How dermaplaning works
Dermaplaning gently scrapes the surface of your skin to remove dead skin cells and fine hairs. It is also known as epidermal leveling, microplaning, or blading. The goal of dermaplaning is to give your skin a smoother, brighter, and more youthful appearance.
During the procedure, we use a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle to gently scrape your skin’s surface. This process removes dead skin cells, fine hairs, and impurities that can make your skin look dull and contribute to clogged pores.
Dermaplaning is a noninvasive procedure that is generally safe and effective for most skin types. We can treat a variety of skin types and conditions, including dull, dry, or uneven skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation.
We don’t recommend dermaplaning if you have active acne, sensitive skin, or certain medical conditions.
At your consultation, we provide a comprehensive evaluation of your skin type and recommend the best treatment for your goals.
When should you get dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning can be a good option to rejuvenate and improve your skin before an event or to target specific skin problems, including:
Before a special event
Dermaplaning can provide immediate improvement to your skin’s texture, making it a popular choice before a big event like a wedding, graduation, or job interview.
Boost your skin care routine
Dermaplaning every 4-6 weeks can be part of a regular skin care routine to maintain healthy, glowing skin.
Enhance the effects of other aesthetic treatments
Dermaplaning before other cosmetic procedures like chemical peels, microneedling, or laser resurfacing helps enhance their results.
Remove fine facial hair
Dermaplaning removes fine “peach fuzz” hair on your face, leaving your skin feeling smoother.
As with any cosmetic procedure, consult with a licensed professional, like the members of our team, to determine if dermaplaning is right for you and to discuss any potential risks or complications.
